I upgraded with a full install of vista. I tried the other tricks mentioned here like pulling the power cord and holding the start button, swapping ram but no luck. This will reset your computer back to its clean, factory-default state. IT WORKED!
all of these things totally call for different fixes! I also noticed something else...usually when i start up it will show a quick splash screen of my hard drives that i have connected...now it just says it cant detect any.
