Just wanted to report back what wasthe cause of the problem,in the hope that it will help others. I also did accidentally deleted the Show Desktop icon at quick launch bar. The quick launch can be found next to the start menu; however, over time I've found myself instructing readers on how to restore these icons if they lose them. I have turned on and off the Quick Launch toolbar, but that has made no difference. Source
Please try the request again. At the desktop, a writing pad icon will have appeared there. Comments are closed. In Windows 95, you could do this but only with keyboard commands, namely the WindowsKey+M to minimise all windows, and the WindowsKey+Shift+M to restore all windows. So things look normal? Any ideas?

When I unpin it, the other five of six Quick Launch icons that I had pinned weeks ago to the Quick Launch Toolbar suddenly appear.
