From a Asus point of view, some MBs have +10 Bios updates so believe it is ALWAYS best to have the latest Bios installed on any equipment. I found this chapter from a book on a website called: "Upgrading and Repairing PCs, Academic Edition, 14th Edition" that I also stumbled upon while trying to find my answer. Well that's all I know, I'm not a geek so don't expect a reply from me. Once that time hits, the monitor will go to sleep and then the computer will just shut down.
Didn't have the problem with an upgrade from 7 but I then did a fresh install and when I sleep the PC, it powers off. When I turn it back on I get the "Start Windows normally" screen.I made a thread about it here, but no luck, thus far. I can't even get to my BIOS because my computer starts up too fast. Now when it enters sleep the little extra load the dummy puts on the power supply keeps it working and no more code or event.

The general consensus about BIOS updates is only update if you are having a problem that could be BIOS-related or a problem specifically mentioned in the update. For me, it looks like my realtek audio is keeping my system from sleeping. Thristle, the power button can do what you want it to do. In the advanced section of the power options (control panel -> Power options -> change plan settings -> change advanced power settings) expand sleep and then expand hibernate after. Anyone got any ideas? When you wake your mobile PC, Windows restores your work session within seconds. I do however get occasional reboots while working on laptop but these can be attributed to updates needing to restart the system. I hope my own head scratching can help someone else.
